First Aid and Medical Issues

There will be a first aid station at the Start/Finish line to cope with any post-race issues.  You might also see the tireless Tony Cronin, a certified Paramedic, on his mountain bike out on the course who will deal with any issues during the event. If you  need any help please contact the nearest marshall, or ask another competitor to let a marshall know you need help.

There will also be a couple of handy vehicles on the course if you do need a lift back to the start/finish line due to injury.

If you do have to withdraw from the race due to injury or excessive tiredness, it is very important that you inform a marshal who will report your race number back to us as a withdrawal.

The weather, the weather, the weather

We like to think it is always magical in Marlborough at this time of year and it almost always is. But please be prepared for anything and bring lot of layers. The day could range from 8-18 degrees.

Post-race at the ‘The Hub’

The Saint Clair Cellar Door Start/Finish Line

After you have completed your race there will be plenty of food and drinks available to buy at The Hub; ranging from sausage rolls and chicken pies, to delicious meals from a range of specialty Marlborough producers. You will also find Saint Clair wine, Renaissance beer, cold drinks, coffee and ice cream. Full meals will be available at the fabulous new Vineyard Kitchen if you pre-order through the Cellar Door restaurant.

There will also be live music on the grassy knoll, post-race yoga in the lemon grove, and plenty of other entertainment so you can relax here after your race, wait here for your friends to come in, and celebrate your achievement with your supporters.

Some Eftpos facilities will be available, but it might help to bring cash as well.

Music devices on the course

Music devices may be worn this year, once the race has started. However, we do ask that you turn them off at the safety briefing before the race, and at some points during the event. The safety of our runners /walkers is very important and we ask that everyone turns their music off at road crossings or when getting safety instructions from the marshals. Please be aware of other runners enjoyment and do not play your music too loud!

Timing

Your timing transponder will officially start the minute you go across the start line, and your ‘mat’ time will be recorded as you finish. BUT, your ‘gun’ time is the time from when the starting gun goes and it is this time that determines your placement on the day, even though the mat time is more precise.

Prizes on the day will be awarded on gun times as official mat times will be not be confirmed until 1-2 days after the race. The crux of that is, if you want to win the magnum of wine or be in the top few places, then you need to be over the start line as soon as the gun goes off.  If you are simply competing against yourself, you could be the last one across the line and still do a great time.

If you do not want your name published with your result, please let us know and we will only post your number.

Spectators

A few cheers from friends and family can make all the difference to the spirit of the half marathon competitor, so we want you to encourage them to come along and support you. There will be some great designated spectator spots for your supporters to wait and cheer you on before heading back to the Saint Clair cellar door to see you cross the finish line.

Private Property

This very special course exists for only one day a year and relies solely on the goodwill of the participating landowners.  We ask all entrants and supporters to please respect private property and do not bring dogs onto the course.  Please ensure you do not leave any litter and please pick up all your tissues!
