You’ve either been to the Vineyard Half Marathon, or are quietly excited to be taking part in your first stroll through the vines on May 12. So you know Marlborough is one of the most diverse food bowls of New Zealand; boasting game from the mountains, fruit and vegetables from the plains and gourmet seafood from the Sounds.
Well the good people at Feast Marlborough have been cooking up ways to showcase this goodness, and we can finally reveal what’s in store for you: a four day food adventure taking place May 10-13.
Gala Feast (Thursday 10 May, ASB Theatre), brought to you by the amazing Arbour team of Bradley Hornby and Liz Buttimore, will launch the weekend. Diners can immerse themselves in world class Marlborough wine and food, dished up with song, dance, comedy and performing arts. It’s the ultimate way to awaken the senses for the weekend ahead.
Friday Night Feast (Friday 11 May, Market Place) will tantalize the taste buds, showcasing Marlborough’s finest fare in a street-style food extravaganza, with different stalls offering up dishes from seafood to slow-cooked meats to gourmet cheeses and home-grown produce. Naturally, this can all be washed down with fine Marlborough wine.
Marlborough Underground takes guests in-house to a series of events ranging from fine dining to fine dancing, all with amazing Marlborough produce like you’ve not seen before. Restaurants across Marlborough from the valleys to the seas have come on board with Marlborough Underground, with events popping up from Saturday through Sunday.
And we all know, nothing could make hard working chefs work harder than a little healthy competition. Rare Fare is our way of creating a dish that is truly Marlborough. Some of our best restaurants will capture the essence of Marlborough with their dishes. These amazing creations will be judged in a two-stage process and the winning dish will be announced in the July issue of Cuisine Magazine. Wondering where you can taste the deliciousness yourself? Keep an eye out here for the list of participating restaurants.
