Hello people!
Spring has sprung here in Marlborough and the last few days have been truly glorious. We don’t mind winter so much, there’s the pruning, new season’s wine, frosty mornings followed by clear crisp days, skiing and cold nights with the fire roaring. But for all that spring is just great.
Entries to the 2013 Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon open on Thursday November 1 and there has been a great deal of work go into the event already, some you will notice and some (hopefully) you wont. The most obvious innovation at this time must be the new website. Its been a real pleasure looking over the photos from last year and seeing all those faces on the course and hopefully we’ve managed to reflect the experience you had with the feel of the website. Have a browse through the site, if there are any bits that don’t work for you let us know and we will review them.
We’ve tried to make the Half Marathon as easy and enjoyable as possible for you, take a look at the accommodation page. Its not exhaustive but these are some of the places we would stay if we were in Marlborough. Similarly, the Play page aims to put you in touch with the folk that we would go to if we wanted to extend our stay in Marlborough and make the most of this amazing province. We have a few travel deals on the site, get in early for those flights if you live further afield. Take a look at the Blenheim House of Travel offer, if there are 10 or more of you travelling in the same direction on the same flight you are eligible for a group discount so give that a go.
But wait there’s more; we’ve enlarged and developed the event site; Mel Parsons and the Rhythm Kings will provide you with some soothing music at the finish line as you sample Saint Clair Family Estate wine, Rennaisance Brewing Co beer, King Salmon and those famous Saint Clair Cellar Door chicken pies whilst having a relaxing massage and planning your moves at the Finishing Toast later that night. We’ve also got more bands on the course, more food, and Registration will be at the Marlborough Convention Center…we could go on but some things are better left as surprises.
Watch out for further newsletters and updates here on the website through Facebook and Twitter. We also hear there will be some bloggers sharing ups and downs as they train for the 2013 Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon so watch out for that. If you are an avid blogger, send us your feed and we will post it as a link for others to follow.
